Today we were lucky enough to communicate with the famous Russian designer Galia Akhmatova, whose posh and original outfits have already caused a stir not only in high circles, but also on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. The famous designer opened a curtain of preparation to the most exciting and anticipated event of this spring – fashion show of the new collection. How it was created, what inspired the designer and what should we expect from the show - in our interview.
Galia, good afternoon. You look great, despite the enormous workload. How do you cope with this? Open the secret of your beauty care?
Good afternoon. Thanks for the compliment. My secret is quite simple - like any modern woman I try to take care of myself. Especially because I work with celebrities and often can appear on the photos and videos. Of course it is difficult to find time for yourself when there are urgent orders or fashion show. But I do my best.
Many believe that work of fashion designer – only a pleasure and nice business ... Do you agree with this statement?
Choose a job for your soul and you won’t work a single day in your life. It’s not my idea, Confucius said this many years ago. I once read this statement and decided to implement my hobby into life. But .... Everything is not so easy. I don’t know about other designers, but I work a lot. One can say that I live at work. And it is sometimes very hard.
We are looking forward the most expected event for the Russian high society, as on the 18th March will be presentation of your new collection. Tell us about it.
If only for a moment to think about what a tremendous preparation is implemented for this important day. Everything is done for guests: plunging into atmosphere, they can feel royalty in the new collection. Moreover, there will be presented three collections to the audience- wedding, evening and children. The general concept of the show - the royal chic. There will be plenty of lush dresses, heavy fabrics and royal accessorize.
Where do you get inspiration for the collections?
My Inspiration - in people. Particularly, unusual bright personalities are interesting to me. More often, looking at fabrics, pictures of dresses appear in my mind from time to time. And without no doubt – music.
How much time did you spend on the creation of the «wonderful beauty» at this time? Did you have any difficulties?
At this time, the creation of the collection was stretched for more than a year. The fact is that I began to prepare for the show immediately after last February. But had to postpone it for an indefinite period because of my health. And only now I’m back in the ranks. I hope that my work will be appreciated.
In your understanding, how does the woman, whose chik will be highlighted by your new collection, should look like?
She is unpredictably different. But surely with the feeling of own dignity. I want that every who will wear a dress from the new collection, straight her shoulders, lift her head high and feel like a queen.
Do you have any ideas or developments to create new images?
Of course. There are thousand ideas in my mind. I don’t have enough time and efforts to implement all of them. They come in the most unexpected moments, you just have to grab a piece of paper and reproduce what you have seen. Sometimes it seems strange, but it is the real creativity.
As a great expert in the fashion world, what would you advise our readers to stay fashionable this spring?
It is certainly flattering to me. I still need more practice to be named an «expert». From myself I want to recommend a maxi length. Clothing that covers most of the woman’s body will be more and more in demand and popular. And of course more bright colors in summer.
